The Assam Cabinet has approved a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) designed to facilitate the expulsion of illegal immigrants from the state. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the SOP will provide guidance to District Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police concerning the management of undocumented populations. The objective is to ensure compliance with immigration laws and regulations within Assam. The procedure focuses on identifying and addressing individuals who are not legally registered as residents.
