A month-old baby was sold by his parents in the village of Nagra, Jharkhand, to a tout couple for ₹50,000. The father, facing financial hardship and a sick wife, agreed to the transaction to alleviate his family’s expenses. Authorities intervened, rescuing the child and investigating the circumstances surrounding the sale. The baby is currently in the care of social services and undergoing medical evaluation.
