Kerala to Establish Women Industrial Park for Women Entrepreneurs

Thrissur: The Kerala government will set up a Women Industrial Park dedicated to women entrepreneurs, Industries Minister P. Rajeeve announced at the Kerala Women Entrepreneurs Conclave 2025 held at the Lulu Convention Centre in Thrissur. The initiative is intended to support the growth and advancement of women-led enterprises in the state.

According to the Minister, women now constitute 31 percent of all entrepreneurs registered during the Year of Entrepreneurship, reflecting a steady rise in female participation in business.

As part of broader efforts to strengthen the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, the Industries Department has launched Mission 1000, which aims to transform 1,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) into ventures with an annual turnover of ₹1 crore each. So far, 444 enterprises have been selected under the initiative.

To further promote women entrepreneurship, the government has amended existing regulations to allow up to 50 percent of residential houses in panchayats to be used for business purposes, while 100 percent of vacant houses can be converted for enterprise use. The Minister said that skill development programs and financial assistance would also be provided to help women entrepreneurs participate in international exhibitions and expand their presence through e-commerce platforms.

The conclave brought together more than 1,200 women entrepreneurs from across Kerala. A Single Window System offering access to banks, financial institutions, UDYAM, KSWIFT, GST, and e-commerce platforms was among the key attractions.

Panel discussions addressed topics such as the role of women in technology-driven production and support schemes from central and state governments.

Minister for Higher Education Dr. R. Bindu attended the event and interacted with participants. District Panchayat President V. S. Prince presided over the conclave, and Industries Department Principal Director A. P. M. Mohammed Hanish IAS delivered the keynote address. Other attendees included senior officials from the Industries Department and representatives from KSIDC, BPT, and FICCI.
