Razorpay Curlec and NIPL Partner to Enable UPI Payments in Malaysia

New Delhi: Razorpay, through its Malaysian entity Curlec, has partnered with NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) to enable Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions in Malaysia. The collaboration, announced at the Global Fintech Fest 2025, will allow Indian travelers to make payments to Malaysian merchants directly using their preferred UPI apps, with transactions settled instantly in Malaysian ringgit.

According to the announcement, the partnership aims to simplify cross-border payments by reducing reliance on cash and minimizing foreign exchange costs. Malaysian businesses will be able to accept payments from Indian visitors without requiring international cards or complex integrations, with settlements processed locally through Razorpay Curlec’s platform.

Shashank Kumar, Managing Director and Co-founder of Razorpay, said the initiative would extend the benefits of UPI to Malaysia, helping businesses and travelers experience faster and simpler digital payments.

Ritesh Shukla, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NIPL, said the partnership would bring UPI’s speed, security, and interoperability to a new market, offering convenience to Indian travelers and expanding opportunities for Malaysian merchants.

Kevin Lee, Country Head and CEO of Razorpay Curlec, noted that enabling UPI payments would make spending easier for Indian visitors and support Malaysian businesses by providing a more efficient payment channel.

Razorpay Curlec is expected to become one of the first payment service providers in Malaysia to offer UPI acceptance, marking a step toward greater digital cooperation between India and Malaysia.
