Panaji: The Government of Goa’s Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C) held a virtual meeting with Bengaluru-based startup Sarvam AI to discuss potential collaboration under the state’s AI Mission 2027. The initiative aims to build a responsible and inclusive artificial intelligence ecosystem in Goa.
Sarvam AI, recently selected under the national IndiaAI Mission to develop a sovereign AI model for India, presented its generative AI platform and expressed interest in contributing to Goa’s efforts. Areas of potential collaboration include policy research, the establishment of an AI Centre of Excellence, and the development of AI-powered public services.
During the session, Sarvam AI showcased its products—Sarvam Samvaad (a conversational AI), Sarvam Arya (an enterprise reasoning engine), and Vistaar (a serverless deployment platform)—which are designed to support Indian languages and cultural contexts.
Officials from DITE&C, including Director Shri Kabir Shirgaonkar and Joint Director Dr. Milind Sakhardande, participated in the discussion alongside Sarvam AI representatives. The conversation also touched on the development of a Konkani Large Language Model, which the state hopes will help preserve and promote Goa’s linguistic heritage.
Minister for ITE&C Shri Rohan A. Khaunte reiterated the government’s goal of positioning Goa as a hub for applied AI research and industry collaboration. The AI Mission 2027 includes plans for infrastructure development, policy frameworks, and skill-building initiatives.
The meeting marks an early step in what could become a broader partnership between the state and private sector players in advancing AI adoption in Goa.
