The Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has announced a plan to establish 21 vending zones specifically designed for street vendors. This initiative follows the completion of Operation LUNGS, which involved a reassignment of existing shops. GVMC officials stated that eligible vendors will be allocated dedicated spaces within these zones. The corporation is integrating with central government schemes, specifically focusing on PM SVANidhi, to support vendor initiatives and economic growth within the city. The relocation of shops is being undertaken gradually, and vendors will benefit from various government-sponsored programs.
